DBT skills group in Clarks Summit, PA
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a powerful form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that can help you decrease destructive thoughts, impulsive urges, and harmful behaviors.
This therapy has been scientifically shown over the past 25 years to help with addictions, self-harm behaviors, eating disorders, anxiety, and mood disorders. It has also been shown to improve interpersonal relationships.
The term “Dialectic” simply means that in life we often need to find balance between two opposing forces in our mind. For example’ “Do you want to change or do you want to stay the same?”
This is not a therapy group, it is a skills training group, so we require each member to be in treatment with a primary therapist. If you are not in treatment and are seeking a referral, we would be happy to arrange this. Otherwise, you may stay with your current therapist while in the group.
The group will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30.
Each group will be limited to 8 people and will be 1 and ½ hours in length. We accept most major insurance plans, including State Medical Assistance. If your insurance does not cover group therapy, then the cost per group session is $50.
Location of the Group:
Dr. Cynthia Edwards-Hawver and Associates, LLC.
400 South State Street
Clarks Summit, PA 18411
The group will be run by Susan Giampapa, LCSW.
If you would like to join the group, or for additional information, please contact Susan directly by calling 973-714- 5379 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
