My personal story
I have been married to my husband for 18 years and we have been together for 23 years. He is my biggest champion and best friend. We have two amazing boys who were both adopted from birth. Thomas is 4 and Lucas is 2 years old. We struggled with infertility and through the gift of adoption we were able to have a beautiful family and I feel blessed every day to have these two angels in my life.
I was drawn to the field of psychology after having heart surgery when I was 21 years old. My heart was damaged due to years of suffering from Anorexia Nervosa and later abusing laxatives. When I was diagnosed with my heart condition I had been in recovery for 3 years. It shows how much damage an eating disorder can cause and how much an eating disorder can affect your life, even after you are in recovery. Once I recovered from my heart surgery I made the decision to go back to school to become a psychologist so I could help other people overcome eating disorders. I have been recovered from my eating disorder for 24 years. Click here to read more about treatment for eating disorders.
Over a year ago I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease. After suffering symptoms for many years, I finally got an answer as to why I was feeling so sick for so long. Besides my eating disorder, this has been one of the biggest challenges of my life. I am very passionate about helping others who suffer from Lyme Disease and other chronic health issues. I love learning and I consider myself a life-long learner of new information. I believe that in order to offer you the most effective treatment, I must also be mentally healthy myself. I am a student of life time growth.
